I am a people person and I have always been fascinated by how complex and contradictory humans are. My sensitivity to what others are feeling was confusing for me when I was young, and becoming a therapist has helped me understand this and make use of it in a way that works for me. Therapy can help people turn their sensitivities into strengths - an amazing turn of events!
Before becoming a therapist I worked with children and young people in group homes, community centers, and public schools. This gave me an understanding of childhood trauma both in families and as a result of institutionalized societal oppression.
I attended the Somatic Psychology program at the California Institute of Integral Studies, which was the perfect training program for me to integrate my personal and professional experience with my sense that healing has to include embodiment. Embodiment can be painful and scary as it entails feeling all of your feelings, but it also increases your capacity to feel centered, comfortable in your skin, and capable of playfulness, vitality, joy and expressiveness.
My ongoing areas of study and training include contemporary relational psychoanalysis, interpersonal neurobiology, attachment theory, trauma theory, and sociocultural theory.
In my personal life I absolutely love music and dancing, and sharing this passion with others is very important to me. I spend a lot of time in the summers in the Sierra Nevada alpine wilderness, and find the solitude and rugged beauty of the mountains deeply resourcing. The photos on this website are from my various adventures.
